Should i use Isogenic?

Postby ZetCoby » Thu Nov 05, 2015 7:49 pm

Hi,

I am searching for a js game engine to use for a future project, I kinda have a nice idea and Isogenic seems to do the trick, the only problem for me is that it is not really clear how free Isogenic is, I searched on this forum for this, saw that on github the license is MIT, but also saw stuff about premium?
So bassicaly I wanna know if I can make my project and later on if possible earn money from it, the thing is that I don't wanna start to learn this engine if I cant use it later for that. If it means to pay something after earning, like unity does I`m fine with that.

Can someone please clarify things for me?

Thanks

In my opinion it is free also for commercial use (license MIT stands that). I found that there is no change in source code for last 2 years, but it looks good, a lot of features. It seems to be mature project. I did not try games created with it, but there are some. Premium version has assets which are not present in free version, because of copyrights.

Isogenic has only recently been moved to an MIT license. There used to be two repositories, ige_prototype and ige. The prototype version was free for non-commercial use and had some cut-down functionality.

The premium "commercial" ige repository has been made public under the MIT license so you get the full previously commercial version as free open source.

You should only use code from the ige repository, don't use ige_prototype, it is outdated.
